Recently many areas supplied from the Vaal River system have experienced changes in water taste and smell due to seasonal algae activity and increased chlorine treatment.

This can affect more than just drinking water — it can also impact your hair.

💧 How water quality affects hair colour:
• High chlorine levels can open the hair cuticle and cause colour to fade faster.
• Minerals in hard water (like calcium, magnesium, and iron) can build up on the hair, making colour look dull or uneven.
• These minerals can also prevent colour and toner from bonding properly to the hair.
• As a result, colour may not last as long or may change tone sooner than expected.

At B’s Hair Studio we always use professional products and treatments designed to protect your hair and help colour last as long as possible. We also recommend using colour-safe shampoos and conditioners at home.
