What does reef safe sunscreen mean?

Studies have shown that chemicals in sunscreens could be contributing to the declining health of our coral, together with pollution, overfishing and climate change.

Two chemicals to avoid in your sunscreens is oxybenzone and octinoxate. These are two UV blocking ingredients that can cause coral bleaching.

LovisaLife’s sunscreen is coral safe!
We use non-nano zinc oxide, which means the molecules in the zinc are larger than 100 nonometers, meaning they too large to be absorbed or ingested by coral.
