Kouga Wilderness is a family run farm and the Ferreiras has been living on “Kleinrivier” since 1815. It is a working farm with apricots, citrus, sheep and vegetables. You can enjoy nature in the scenic Kouga mountains on the border of the Baviaanskloof World Heritage site. The farm was originally split up into 3 parts, “Onderplaas”, “Kleinrivier” and “Bo-plaas”. Bo-plaas became the property of Nic
Beautiful Sunday hike with mom and Keith to Tiergrot this past Sunday. Winter is the perfect time for beautiful explorations in the mountains. This place has so much to offer and we are so grateful to be able to share it.
Dont miss out in 2026!

The sun is shining....the bridges are open and life begins to return back to normal here. Keith is out fixing farm roads and getting things ready for operation again and we look forward to welcoming our precious guests back. The road from Joubertina is currently passable and does not require 4x4, but low carriage vehicles will not make it. Drive slowly and we will keep you updated

To all our beautiful, concerned guests. Thank you for checking on us and for all your care and concern. Below are photos of the entrance to the farm, over the little log bridge, from Thursday to yesterday. We are safe. Our staff are safe, and so is everything else on the farm. There is no power, and some water issues, but nothing Keith can't handle :-) The bridges and roads have washed badly, as you will no doubt have seen, and we won't be able to get out for a while. The landscape has been indelibly changed, and we are not sure how long things will take to return to normal, but we will keep you updated.
