Meet the Friends of Lyftaal: StudioLK 🤍

Some friendships have been part of your life for so long that they become part of who you are. Jani and Lara first met when they were five, went through their school years together, and have remained close friends ever since.

So introducing Lara Kruger through Lyftaal feels especially meaningful.

StudioLK is the creative practice of artist and facilitator Lara Kruger (Nieuwenhuis), whose workshops in Paarl invite people to make, experiment and follow their curiosity – without the pressure of having to be an artist or getting it “right”.

At the heart of the workshops is the simple act of slowing down and becoming absorbed in the process of making. A chance to quiet the noise of everyday life, return to the present and see what emerges when we give ourselves the time and freedom to create.

It is this sense of presence that feels so familiar to us at Lyftaal.

We believe in creating space to slow down, become present and land more fully in ourselves and our bodies. StudioLK finds a different way into that same space – through making, noticing, feeling and following curiosity wherever it leads.

Annemarie has a way of making people feel welcome from the moment they walk through our doors. She doesn’t just hear you – she truly listens, makes time for you, and somehow knows when you need a little encouragement, advice or simply someone to lean on.

She is the calm in our chaos, bringing structure to busy days with her organised mind and incredible attention to detail. Our team leader and our “Matrone” – quick to keep us in line, but always the first to help put out a fire. She sees the good in people, notices the little things, and brings a gentleness that makes everyone around her feel a little more at ease.

Annemarie, may the year ahead bring you all the beautiful things you so often see in the world around you. May you always have people in your corner who listen, understand and remind you just how special you are.

Wellness, when shared, becomes something more 🤍

Our morning with Glõw Gathering brought together good conversation, homemade functional drinks, delicious bites and, most importantly, time to slow down and connect.

We spoke about wellbeing from the inside out – the ways we nourish ourselves, the choices we make, and how caring for ourselves can be about so much more than a treatment or a routine.

Our founder, Jani de Koker, joined as a guest speaker, sharing her approach to holistic skincare and the importance of understanding what our skin needs, while caring for the person behind it too.

There was plenty of laughter, stories shared, new connections and moments of simply enjoying being together.

Thank you to the Glõw Gathering community for having us. We loved sharing the morning with you.
