TOUGH TIMES - South Africans are once again facing rising living costs after annual consumer inflation accelerated to 5% in June, up from 4.5% in May, driven mainly by higher transport costs due to the US/Iran war, more expensive housing and utilities, insurance and financial services. Education and meat prices also saw hefty increases. Many companies cannot afford salary increases that keep up with inflation, in effect making their employees poorer than the year before.
