Thunzi Bush Lodge CC the place to be

We’ve built quite the reputation for romantic getaways over the years, and for good reason. 🤍

From the nervous excitement before asking “Will you marry me?” to anniversary weekends, birthdays, honeymoons and those much-needed escapes for two, Thunzi has been the setting for so many special moments.

Some of our guests’ favourite chapters have started right here. Others return year after year to celebrate the ones that followed.

Perhaps your next chapter starts at Thunzi too.

PARENTS HAVE THE WEIRDEST COLLECTION OF USELESS SKILLS

Nobody talks about the absolutely ridiculous skill set you develop after becoming a parent.

Because I'm not saying any of this belongs on a résumé…

but I feel like some corporation should be interested.

I can hear a snack wrapper being opened from three rooms away.

I can identify which child is walking through the house based entirely on the sound of their footsteps.

I can tell the difference between a normal scream, an angry scream, a sibling scream, a “something touched me” scream, and the scream that actually requires me to get up.

That's expertise.

I can carry groceries, my phone, a drink, somebody's jacket, a toddler toy, my keys and seventeen other completely unrelated objects in one trip because apparently taking TWO trips is where I draw the line.

I can answer questions while cooking dinner, checking my phone, looking for somebody's missing shoe and mentally calculating whether I remembered to pay a bill.

And I can find absolutely anything.

Except my own s**t.

Someone can't find a charger they've lost?

Found it.

Favorite hoodie?

Found it.

Specific tiny plastic toy the toddler hasn't played with in six months but suddenly requires for emotional survival?

Give me a minute.

My own phone?

Where the hell is my phone?

Everybody stop moving.

Nobody talk.

I JUST HAD IT.

And then one of my children points out that I'm holding it.

Excellent.

Glad I'm in charge here.

Parents also develop a sixth sense for silence.

Before children, silence was peaceful.

Now?

Silence is suspicious as hell.

If the house suddenly becomes too quiet, every parent immediately stops what they're doing.

Because something is happening.

You don't know what.

But statistically speaking, you're not going to like it.

And perhaps the most impressive parenting skill of all is being able to continue a completely normal conversation while absolute chaos unfolds around you.

Toddler crying because her sock feels “weird.”

Teenager asking where her charger is.

Someone yelling from another room.

Dog losing its mind.

Microwave beeping.

Phone ringing.

And you're just standing there like:

“Anyway, what were you saying?”

At this point, I honestly believe parents could handle air traffic control.

Put me in the tower.

Six planes coming in at once?

Please.

I've made dinner while three children needed something simultaneously and one of them couldn't locate an object sitting directly in front of her.

I was built for this.

Just don't ask me where I put my keys.

We're all going to die.

Shared.
