HAIR LOSS
It’s probably one of our worst fears – thinning hair!
Did you know the average person loses around 100 hairs a day (and assuming you don’t have alopecia), you’re going to be just fine if you follow the guidelines below.
We won’t go into all the kinds of hair loss you can have, there are dozens - We will just mention one of them – telogen effluvium.
This is the name given to hair loss where more than usual seems to fall out rather worryingly, but this is a temporary ‘resting period’ of the hair which happens especially when you restrict calories, carbs or go on a diet. It does recover fully, so please don’t worry!
Other types of gradual hair loss may occur for other reasons – here are a few:
• Medications such as cortisone, HRT, anti-coagulants, beta-blockers, contraceptives, gout etc
• Chemical toxicity from chemo, pesticides, rancid seed oils, heavy metals and other toxins
• Malabsorption of nutrients, poor diet, low stomach acid, leaky gut, dysbiosis
• Lack of sleep
• Stress (big one) – ‘nuff said
• Auto-immune disease eg celiac disease (gluten will thin hair in most people anyway so drop the wheat)
• Hormone dysregulation
• Too little protein in the diet
• Anaemia
• Long standing candida or parasite infestation
• Thyroid problems - usually hypothyroid conditions
• Processed food eaten regularly
• Food intolerances (and many other contributing factors)
But what can you do, practically, if you are relatively healthy with no underlying obvious disease condition, to improve hair growth?
There are a few things, but be warned, it does take around 6 months to fully see the results.
• Eat more animal protein, especially red meat – it’s often a protein deficiency
• Eat biotin-rich foods like eggs every day
• Don’t skimp on your fat intake – animal fat, butter, olive oil
• Check your ferritin levels – you may need additional iron
• Don’t drink tea with meals, it will bind the uptake of iron
• Drop the dairy, sugar and wheat products - no excuses
• Avoid seed oils at all costs, eat healthy fats
• Take a good fish oil supplement or cod liver oil
• Use Sally-Ann Creed Collagen daily, it really works
• Take a good B Complex and Vitamin D3 - both help
• Make bone broth and have 1-3 cups a day
• Use gelatine daily too if you can – stir it into anything
• Be patient… your hair will recover!
Hair’s to you!

10 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FEMALE HAIR LOSS
There are many reasons women lose hair – these are the most common:
1. Lack of animal protein in the diet
2. Being on birth control – these are synthetic chemicals not real hormones and do affect your hair either short- or long-term – hair loss is a common side effect
3. Rule out Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) – the raised insulin and androgen levels will also cause hair loss – Berberine Complex and Magnesium Citrate is excellent here
4. Are you deficient in iron (often vegans/vegetarians) – get a blood test for ferritin
5. Get your Thyroid checked – raised thyroid ‘antibodies’ are a cause of hair loss
6. Reduce inflammation brought about by a poor diet, smoking, wheat, sugar, dairy and environmental toxicity
7. Don’t stop ALL carbs – have a low carb, not a no-carb diet
8. Make sure you are not doing a low fat diet or a too-low calorie diet – both will adversely affect your hair and result at some point in hair loss
9. Consider Pure Hydrolysed Collagen, Biotin, Magnesium Citrate and Zinc – all of which will help to stimulate hair growth. Vegetarian diets and birth control strip you of zinc – red meat is the best source of zinc
10. Once you’ve done all this – be patient! Just as it takes time for stress and the things above to cause hair loss, so it will take time to get those new little hairs growing again. Hair’s to you!

HEALTH BENEFITS OF DAILY COLLAGEN
It’s Saturday morning – grab a cup of my delicious organic espresso coffee, put some organic coconut cream into it, a spoon of Keto Sweet Zero and 2 scoops of my Pure Hydrolysed Collagen. (That’s what I’m doing right now) – sit back, and revel in the benefits this amazing powder can have on you. I hope you are feeling more relaxed already.
Not only is this a beauty superfood, it actually has health benefits as many of you have discovered. Getting something that has multiple benefits is a real bonus, and that’s what you get with my brand of Pure Hydrolysed Collagen – 100% PURE, grass-fed with nothing added. I started taking it for fun but when I saw the benefits, I realised it is something I will never again want to be without. Get ready for a few (yet LONG list) of results you can expect:
• Repairs abdominal connective tissue stretched through pregnancy or weight loss
• Prevents wrinkles and literally irons out fine lines
• Gives skin a very smooth appearance
• Reduces puffiness due to inflammation
• Helps prevent and treat acne, eczema and skin rashes
• Sorts out sinusitis in loads of people
• Hair becomes thicker and prevents hair loss
• Strengthens nails and also makes them smooth (no more ridges)
• Strengthens ligaments and tendons (they are made out of collagen)
• Protects and repairs joints, bones, cartilage and muscles
• Repairs connective tissue
• Shortens recovery time
• Reduces or eliminates joint pain
• Enhances recovery after workouts
• Enhances athletic performance
• Builds muscle and burns fat
• Helps to prevent sports injury, and speeds recovery
• Improves sleep, helps you stay asleep and sleep deeper
• Prevents anxiety – the glycine present balances mood and neurotransmitters
• Strengthens and builds bone (calcium does not do this by the way)
• Reduces appetite naturally so helps weight loss
• Reduces cravings
• Contains no carbohydrates – ZERO
• Heals a leaky gut
• Often removes eye ‘floaters’
WHAT KIND SHOULD YOU USE?
• Always choose a pure POWDER form of collagen, as other unwanted things are added to liquid collagen, plus they are usually more expensive even if the source of the collagen is poorer. They will usually be in a plastic bottle which may leach into the product but a dry powder won’t have this problem.
• Make sure there are NO unwanted additives, colourants, stabilisers, fillers or other rubbish you don’t need. I have sourced a SUPERB collagen, 100% pure and grass-fed, Non-GMO – there is no shellfish or pork present, it’s absolutely pure.
• Fish collagen may give you way too much calcium, almost to unsafe levels, so I never recommend marine collagen – ever!
• And don’t think collagen cream will do anything by the way – the collagen in them is not bio-available as the particle size is always too big to be absorbed. There is something else in the cream (maybe a chemical) doing the ‘work’ – it’s not the collagen.
• Collagen must be taken per mouth to be effective.
• And no colourants or flavours are needed. Avoid any additives
• And one last thing – there are many cheap collagens around, but good stuff is worth it’s weight in gold as it is very scarce now. That’s why I don’t have specials often, this is premium collagen, and there is not that much around – but I’m so lucky to have got a nice stash for us.
My Pure Hydrolysed Collagen is really the best you will use – people have said they’ve tried all sorts of collagen and this is the only one that has really done it for them, where they have seen dramatic results. Use 1-2 scoops a day – it is literally all you need! Get yours from my online store at https://sallyanncreed.co.za/shop.
