Day Event

Gamalakhe, 25 July 2026 – Gamalakhe Community Health Centre successfully hosted a youth empowerment event on Friday, 24 July 2026, bringing together learners from various high schools across Gamalakhe. The initiative aimed to educate and empower young people by addressing some of the most pressing social challenges affecting today's youth.

The event created an engaging platform where learners were encouraged to participate in meaningful discussions on topics that have a significant impact on their lives and future. Key issues covered included teenage pregnancy, social ills, the dangers of social media, bullying, sexual abuse, and substance abuse.

Healthcare professionals and invited stakeholders shared valuable information on the physical, emotional, and social consequences of risky behaviours. Learners were encouraged to make informed decisions, develop healthy relationships, and seek support whenever they face challenges.

Special attention was given to the growing influence of social media on young people's lives. Speakers highlighted the importance of responsible online behaviour, protecting personal information, and avoiding cyberbullying and online exploitation.

The discussions on bullying and abuse emphasised the importance of speaking out, supporting victims, and creating safe school and community environments where every young person feels respected and protected.

Addressing teenage pregnancy and substance abuse, facilitators stressed the importance of education, self-respect, goal setting, and making responsible choices that contribute to a brighter future.

The event was highly interactive, allowing learners to ask questions, share their experiences, and receive guidance in a supportive environment. The participation and enthusiasm displayed by the learners reflected the importance of creating opportunities for open dialogue on issues affecting the youth.
