Sport Is Life Movement NPC chose Hockey as one of the sporting codes to develop and transform township schools!

In 2024 on the 05th of October, Sport Is Life Movement (NPC) with the support of (SAHA) South African Hockey Association and Standard Bank held its annual 5-Aside Hockey development Festival.

This year's festival had 6 schools participating. Keagile Primary school being the hosts.

Everything ran smoothly.

The biggest part of the day was seeing the smiles on the faces of the learners. Indeed hockey will grow in the townships and rural areas.

Next year's tournament will definitely be bigger and better with more schools anticipated to be a part of the Festival.

Last year Dr Janelize and her colleagues from the NWU (North West University) launched the Musikane program at Keagile Primary School. This program was brought forward after Mandla Mbotho, a beneficiary of the Musikane program. The program was brought forward by a partnership between Sport Is Life Movement NPC and NWU.

Sport Is Life Movement partners with South African Hockey Association for a hockey clinic.

Video: Hockey clinic introduces the game to youngsters in Ikageng | Potchefstroom Herald Children of all ages took to the court at Keagile Primary and showcased their ball skills, through passing, throwing, running, catching, jumping and kicking. The basics of hockey is taught in a fun as well as affordable way.

23 September 2023 Sport Is Life Movement held its first On-My-Court Modified Hockey festival.

The following schools;Keagile Primary School (Host), Pudulogo Primary School, New Bright Begining and Dan Tloome primary school participated.

Thanks to Standard bank for making the event possible.

There is a great need for township schools to be provided with Sports equipment to be able to participate in extra-mural activities.

NPC hands over hockey equipment to schools in Ikageng | Potchefstroom Herald Non-profit company, Sport Is Life Movement (SILM) officially handed over 50 modified hockey sticks to three schools in Ikageng.

Sport Is Life Movement is here to stay!

Non-profit company supports hockey in Ikageng | Potchefstroom Herald Mandla Mbotho, who lives in Potchefstroom, has started an initiative called Sport Is Life Movement (SILM), a non-profit company (NPC) that aims to uplift the youth.

In 2019 Sport Is Life Movement took the learners of Promosa Primary school and Promosa Secondary school to the Women's junior hockey world cup that was hosted in Potchefstroom. North West University (NWU) Sponsored Sport Is Life with transportation.
