💦 The Truth About Water & Your Nails 💅

Did you know your nails LOVE water… but too much can actually damage them?

✨ Nails are made of keratin, which is naturally hydrophilic (water-loving)
✨ They contain 10–30% water depending on humidity
✨ Water makes nails more flexible—but also softer and weaker when overexposed

⚠️ Overexposure to water can:
•⁠ ⁠Cause swelling of the nail plate
•⁠ ⁠Weaken nails, making them too soft and bendy
•⁠ ⁠Worsen cracks and damage
•⁠ ⁠Lead to onycholysis (lifting of the nail plate)
•⁠ ⁠Increase risk of bacterial & fungal infections

💡 The key? BALANCE.

✔️ Keep nails clean and healthy
✔️ Use a good quality nail oil to seal and protect
✔️ Look for humectants like glycerine & urea for dry nails
