The Robertson Wine Valley organisation was formed in 1983 by a handful of wineries to promote wine of origin Robertson Only friendlier. More earthy.
Just before you cross the frontier from Boland to Klein Karoo, the Robertson Wine Valley gives you the splendour of the Winelands one last time. It’s everything that lends the Winelands its greatness. More willing to make you slow down…and linger…and stay. It is for this exact reason – the perfect marriage of blue sky, green vines, vibrant people and country hospitality at its best – that thousands of people make the journey to the Valley year after year. They come to indulge in the fruits of the earth at any of the 52 wineries. Or the superbly made local olive products and cheese. They come to enjoy the magnificence of nature on a quiet cruise down the Breede River, a day at the natural hot springs or a fishing expedition in a hidden little side stream. They drink in nature’s beauty on a game drive through an unspoiled reserve, or a steep off-road climb – on foot, on two wheels or four. And they come to fill their homes with the hand-made works of art skillfully crafted by locals who find their inspiration in the vibrant surrounds. And of course they come for festivity. Whether they want to be winemaker for a day, or like the buzz of thousands of wine lovers flocking together, whether they’re a serious connoisseur or just want to laze around on the banks of the Breede River – there’s a favourite pastime for every soul and every season. On 22 September, we had the pleasure of attending a truly spectacular evening at Zandvliet for the introduction of ART OF THE VINE, featuring the incredibly talented Belinda Hewer
Known for her striking wildlife and portrait work, Belinda’s art is truly something special — rich in character, emotion and incredible detail.
One of the highlights of the evening was watching her talent unfold live, as one lucky guest was selected to have her portrait created by Belinda right there at the event. Watching the piece come to life in real time made an already special evening even more memorable. ✨
Belinda’s beautiful paintings can now also be viewed at Zandvliet and are available to purchase, offering visitors the opportunity to experience her work up close — and perhaps take a favourite piece home.
A wonderful evening celebrating art, w**e and exceptional local talent in the Robertson W**e Valley. 🍇🍷🎨
