Denmark became one of the first countries in Europe to remove the religious exemption allowing animals to be slaughtered without prior stunning. 🇩🇰

Under Danish law, animals must now be stunned before slaughter, meaning traditional forms of unstunned kosher slaughter and some forms of halal slaughter can no longer take place domestically.

Supporters of the move say the decision puts animal welfare first and helps reduce unnecessary suffering during the slaughter process. Critics, however, argue the law restricts religious freedom and limits traditional faith-based practices.

While traditional unstunned slaughter is no longer permitted inside Denmark, both kosher and halal meat can still be imported from abroad.

The debate continues across Europe, where countries remain divided between protecting animal welfare and preserving religious traditions.
