CCCA is treatable—and regrowth is possible.

Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia commonly begins at the crown and gradually spreads outward. Early signs may include central hair breakage, thinning, itching, tenderness or burning, although some people experience no discomfort.

CCCA was once widely described as inevitably irreversible. However, emerging research shows that appropriate treatment may reduce inflammation, reverse fibrosis-related activity and support meaningful hair regrowth—even in some treatment-resistant cases.
