SleepSpec gives you the quality sleep your body needs, without having to use medication or any other sleeping aid, by allowing your body to fall asleep naturally the way it is supposed to. It does this by controlling light in your environment to re-set your body's natural body clock (your circadian rhythm). SleepSpec is designed to fit into your lifestyle so that you can carry out your normal routine and not have to worry about getting a good night sleep.

Make sure you get enough sleep to prevent and lower your risk of weight gain, depression, overeating, decreased concentration and productivity, poor athletic performance, heart disease and strokes, and weaker immune function.
SleepSpec can help reduce the effect of blue light which prevents the body from producing melatonin needed for sleep.

Whilst many of us have returned to work and some form of normality, there are still a lot of people working and studying from home. All this exposure to blue light means one thing – poor quality sleep.
SleepSpec has extended its Lockdown Combo Offer to help everyone in the family get the best sleep possible.
Remember sleep is important in building a healthy immune system which is critical to not only fight Covid 19 but all the normal winter colds and flu.

SleepSpec is a range of scientifically engineered tools that are used to filter the light (in your immediate environment) that affects your body’s natural clock. Your body’s natural clock is called the circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is the natural, 24-hour functioning of body rhythms in which states, such as sleep, wakefulness and energy, are regulated and adapted to suit different times of the day or night. In other words, the circadian rhythm tells your body when to go to sleep and when to wake up, depending on the time of day.
Artificial light affects your circadian rhythm by telling your body to wake up (this is where many troubles with sleeping begin to develop, as artificial light sources, such as your electronic devices and lighting in your home, are a mainstay of the modern nocturnal routine).
Your circadian rhythm is being interrupted when you are exposed to blue light – specifically – in the evenings, when your body is supposed to be preparing itself for sleep. SleepSpec (when worn in the evening) prevents this from happening by blocking out blue light. This allows your body to undergo its natural sleep process, setting you up for quality sleep.

Good sleep is important to our emotional and physical health. It boosts our immune system, and it helps our mood.
This is particularly important as we find ourselves in the midst of the Covid 19 Pandemic. Stress, lack of routine and increased exposure to blue light are all contributing to insomnia and sleep difficulties.
At night people often think about things and try to work through their problems. Worries about the impact of the virus are magnified at night resulting in poor sleep and even nightmares.
Experts recommend that during this time of stress, it is even more important than ever to keep a regular, healthy sleep routine, which includes getting up and going to bed at the same time and ensuring one gets some fresh air and exercise.
Limiting exposure to electronic devices before bedtime is difficult with work, learning and socialising mostly being done online, but even 20-30 minutes of no screen time is better than nothing.
SleepSpec helps the body to produce melatonin, the sleep hormone, which assists the body to go to sleep.

Teenagers love sleep and that is because they need a lot of it…
According to sleep experts, teens need at least 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night, compared to an average of 7 to 9 hours each night for most adults. Their internal biological clocks also keep them awake later in the evening and keep them sleeping later in the morning.
This is really not conducive to early morning school starts, so what can we do to help?
- Try and keep a routine. It is not just toddlers that need a bedtime. Going to bed the same time every night helps the body’s sleep and wake cycle.
- Limit late night screen time. It is not just what your teenager is watching, it is when they are watching. Make sure phones, tablets and laptops are not used for at least 2 hours before bedtime.
- If your teen has to use devices late at night for school or study purposes, get them to switch these devices to night time mode and encourage them to wear blue light absorbing glasses such as SleepSpec, which absorb the blue light responsible for stopping production of the sleep hormone melatonin.
