Stigma.
A stigma is a mark of disgrace.
A shared negative attitude or feeling of disgust towards a certain thing.
Yet...
We hear it time and time again, beaten into our brains as if we were school children studying for finals.

The Stigma Towards Mental Health.

The news, the media, every social site bombards you with these 5 words with the consistency of a political candidate before elections.
Self help gurus and life coaches use it as a hook to subscribe to them (for a small fee) to "cure" you.
Cure you?
So that you won't be stigmatised by society?
The very same society that discusses clonazopam, va**um, celexa, zoloft, prozac, lexapro as if one was talking paracetamol for a mild headache.

When will the word "stigma" be disassociated from "mental health"?

In these days, with the generations together on this planet, living through wars, mass shootings, pandemics leaving thousands locked up alone, aids, gender discrimination, racism everywhere, especially covered by media showing police killing black people and the marches that followed for Black Lives Matter. The unbelievable level of crime in South Africa... what Isreal is going through right now...
Can ANYONE really say there's a stigma towards mental health?
PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Neurodevelopmental disorders.
One in every 8 people suffers from a form of mental health disorder.
Look around you right now.
There are so many suffering.
Instead of having a stigma towards mental health, how about we change the world's mindset to "The Love Towards Those With Mental Health."
