The difference between dynamic and static wrinkles?

Dynamic wrinkles are also known as expression lines. They form in response to repeated muscle movements from smiling, frowning, blinking and squinting. When the muscle contracts it causes the overlying skin to move and creates a temporary fold/line.

Static wrinkles are wrinkles that are visible when your face is at rest. This is because our skin produce less collagen with age. This will cause the skin to be less elastic. Dynamic lines will eventually become static wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin will reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and can soften static wrinkles that have already formed.
