Let's get real - caring for blonde hair can be a real hassle, regardless of whether you are a natural or a 'salon'-blonde.⁠

Natural elements (like water, sun, heating, aircon & pollution) can make your blonde go brassy and over-styling & processing your hair can leave it dehydrated, fragile & prone to breakage! Processed hair needs a lot of TLC - and here are some tips on how to get it right. .⁠⁠
💦 #1: Keep it Hydrated⁠
Hair masks are essential for giving your blonde the TLC it needs. When it comes to timing, the longer the better. Leaving a mask for a few hours will give it time to work its magic, working inside the cuticle making the hair stronger. TOP TIP: Wrapping your hair in cling film or a shower cap will work as an insulator, to seal in the moisture working its way into the cuticles. .⁠⁠
🔥 2: Avoid heat⁠
The less heat styling, the better! "Lifting" (i.e. bleaching) your hair to achieve a lighter blonde shade requires your hair cuticle to be stripped. Once that's been done, it makes it difficult for your hair to hold onto nutrients; leaving it dry & brittle. Adding an excessive amount of heat to your hair, on top of that, can do real damage and dull your shine. If you are addicted to heat (like many of us) be sure to always use a heat protectant spray when styling your hair. .⁠⁠
🧴 #3: Products matter⁠
Over time, natural elements can cause your cool tresses to become brassy. NOT the tone you were going for, right? To maintain your tone, invest in a purple shampoo. Why purple? It's directly opposite yellow on the colour wheel, meaning when the purple pigments in the shampoo are absorbed by the hair follicle, it covers & cancels out any warm, brassy tones, leaving your locks with the cool ashy tone you paid big bucks to get. Clever right?⁠
