🔥 🔥 🔥 BEGINNERS GUIDE TO CHOOSING FOUNDATION 💯 💯 💯
▪️ STEP 3 : SELECT YOUR COVERAGE
Foundation coverage is basically how much of your skin you want to show through. When it comes to coverage we all have different needs and different tastes depending on the desired result. The three main types of coverage are light, medium and full.
⭕Light coverage foundation.
These can be used when you want to even out your skin tone while still letting your natural complexion show through. This coverage is perfect for a lighter, fresher, woke-up-like-this look. Great for people with little or no blemishes. Examples include L.A Girl pro BB cream, NYX bare with me tinted veil foundation, etc
⭕Medium coverage foundation.
Medium coverage will allow you to cover minor skin imperfections yet still look natural, while showing your skin texture. This foundation coverage is the most versatile because you can build your coverage to cover anything you'd like to hide and blend them out in places where you need little or no coverage. Examples include Maybelline Fit Me, L.A Girl pro matte or illuminating foundation, Rimmel match perfection etc.
⭕ Full coverage foundation
Full coverage foundation provides you with the most coverage and with no skin showing through. This coverage conceals any and all skin imperfections, because of this, it tends to be a bit heavy on skin. It is perfect for full glam makeup looks. Examples include Maybelline superstay, l'oreal Paris infallible total cover foundation, milani conceal + perfect 2-in-1 foundation.

▪️ STEP 2 : KNOW YOUR UNDERTONE
An undertone is color from underneath the surface of your skin that affects your overall hue. Think of it as your skins personal Instagram or snapchat filter.. except it's always there. An undertone is not how dark or light your skin is, but the underlying shade of your skin. There are three undertones i.e. cool, warm and neutral. You may have seen this in foundation shade labeling that include the letters C, W and N..e.g MAC NW43, these descriptions refer to the skin undertone.
⭕ A cool undertone is generally associated with skin that has hints of blue, pink or a ruddy red. For this undertone choose foundations that have a slight dash of pink. Look for words like tan, shell, fawn, beige. Most companies label cool toned foundation with the letter 'C'.
⭕ A warm undertone is more peachy, golden or yellow. For this undertone foundation should have a pinch of yellow or gold. Look for words like golden, honey, warm beige. Most companies label warm tones foundation with the letter 'W'.
⭕A neutral undertone is a mixture (or neither) of the two undertones i.e warm and cool. For this undertone look for shades that fall in the cool - warm spectrum. Most companies label neutral tone foundation with 'N'.
Here are a few ways to determine your skin's undertone.
⛔Undertone Test 1: Vein colors
A popular method is to look at the colors of one's veins on the wrist. If they appear green, the skin's undertone is golden or yellow, hence warm. If they appear blue, the skin's undertone is pink or blue, hence cool. If you find that your veins are neither or in between the two, you might be neutral.
⛔Undertone Test 2 : Silver or Gold Jewelry
Another method consists of looking at jewelry that looks best on you. Warm undertone people tend to look good in golden jewelry. Cool undertone people will rock silver jewelry. Neutral undertone people look good in both silver and golden jewelry.
⛔Undertone Test 3 : The White Contrast
The third method consists in standing in front of a white background and determining which colors appear most apparent in the skin, using the stark contrast with the white to make that observation. Bluish, Pinkish, Reddish mean you are cool toned. Yellowish, Goldish, Peachish mean you are warm toned. A mixture of these colors indicates a neutral skin undertone.

▪️ STEP 1 : FIGURE OUT YOUR SKIN TYPE
There are basically four skin types i.e normal, oily, dry/dehydrated and combination.
⭕Normal skin is not too dry and not too oily. It is characterised by :- No or few blemishes, no severe sensitivity, barely visible pores and a radiant beauty.
⭕Oily skin as the name indicates is characterised by :- Enlarged pores, dull or shiny thick complexion, black heads, pimples and other blemishes.
⭕Dry skin characteristics include :- Almost invisible pores, dull/rough complexion, less elasticity and more visible lines
⭕Combination skin can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others such as the T-zone(nose, forehead and chin).
Two easy ways to determine your skin type at home;
☑️The bare-face method.
Cleanse your face thoroughly with a mild cleanser and gently pat dry. Leave skin bare (do not apply additional moisturizers). After 30 minutes examine your cheeks, chin and forehead for any shine. After another 30 minutes evaluate whether skin feels parched especially if you smile or make any other expressions.
Verdict : If your skin feels tight, your skin is likely dry. If there is noticeable shine on your nose and forehead, your skin is likely normal/combination. If there is shine on your cheeks in addition to your forehead and nose, you most likely have oily skin.
☑️The blotting sheet test.
This method is much faster and often an excellent differentiator between oily and dry skin types. Gently pat blotting paper on different areas of your face. If you don't have blotting paper, you can separate the layers of a tissue paper until you are left with just one layer of tissue, this works pretty much the same as blotting paper. Hold the sheet up to the light to determine how much oil is visible.
Verdict : If the sheet picked up little or no oil you most likely have dry skin. If the blotting sheet reveals oil from the forehead and nose areas, your skin is normal/combination. Finally, if the blotting paper is saturated with oil you most likely have an oily skin type.

▪️INTRODUCTION
Too much and you look like a clown. Too little and you look unpolished, very tricky stuff- FOUNDATION .
This page seeks to answer all your questions about choosing it, using it, but never abusing it.. And looking naturally flawless.
I couldn't help being a little jealous. My colleague had the most flawless skin and seemingly effortless beauty. She looked fresh at all times of the day, even when knocking off. I wrote off her complexion as one of those inherited blessings.
A chance encounter in the office bathroom revealed I was wrong. I walked in on her walloping a fully loaded powder puff against her cheek. On the counter was an almost empty, sloppily finger printed bottle of foundation. I was shocked 😲.
But I was motivated 😎. I wanted to find out how to use foundation without looking as if I'm wearing a mask, or wearing the wrong shade like a clown 🤡 .. I wanted to know how to get the kind of seemingly natural perfection my work pal had.
After doing tons of research, consulting those more knowledgeable in the subject matter. I'm here to help you choose the right foundation for YOU.
