HOW TO KEEP YOUR HAIR MOISTURIZED
4C hair is naturally prone to dryness because of its tight curl pattern. Moisture is what keeps your hair alive, soft, and strong.
Dry hair leads to:
• Breakage
• Tangling
• Split ends
• Dull appearance
One of the biggest mistakes people make is confusing oil with moisture.
👉 Oil alone will NOT moisturize your hair
👉 You must add water first, then seal it in
How to Properly Moisturize Your Hair
Follow this simple method:
• Lightly dampen your hair with water
• Apply a leave-in conditioner
• Seal with oil or butter
This is often called the LCO or LOC method.
• L- liquid (water, herbal spray, leave-in conditioner)
• O- Oil ( try using a light oil that doesn't clog pores)
• C- cream (a hair butter or cream to seal it in(
Moisture Routine Example
• Moisturize: 2–3 times per week
• Deep condition: every wash day
• Avoid letting your hair stay dry for long periods
Signs Your Hair Needs Moisture
• Feels rough or brittle
• Breaks easily
• Hard to detangle
• Looks dull
Moisturizng is the key to retaining length

HOW TO CARE FOR HAIR IN PROTECTIVE STYLES
Protective styles can help you retain length and grow your hair faster—but only if your hair and scalp are cared for properly while the style is in. Here’s a simple guide 👇
1. Start With Clean, Moisturized Hair before installing a protective style:
• Wash with a gentle sulfate-free shampoo
• Deep condition for moisture
• Apply a leave-in conditioner
• Seal moisture with oil or butter
Healthy hair underneath the style = better growth.
2. Moisturize Your Hair Regularly
Even in braids, twists, or wigs, your hair still needs moisture.
Moisturizing routine (2–3 times a week):
• Lightly mist hair with water or herbal spray
• Apply leave-in conditioner
• Seal with your favourite oils
Dry hair breaks easily, which prevents length retention.
3. Care for Your Scalp
Your scalp is where hair growth begins.
Tips:
• Massage scalp 3–4 times a week
• Tea tree oil (for dandruff)
• Peppermint oil (stimulates scalp)
• Rosemary oil (supports growth)
Scalp massages increase blood circulation, which can support healthier growth.
4. Don’t Install Styles Too Tight
Tight braids or cornrows can cause traction alopecia.
If it hurts its too tight
Protective styles should protect, not stress the hair.
5. Keep Styles for the Right Amount of Time
Protective styles should not stay in too long.
Recommended timeline:
• Braids / twists: 4–6 weeks
• Wigs: remove regularly to care for scalp
• Cornrows: 2–3 weeks
Keeping styles too long leads to matting and breakage.
6. Protect Hair While Sleeping
Night protection prevents friction and breakage.
Use: a Satin bonnet or Silk scarf or Satin pillowcase
7. Choose the Right Protective Styles
Great styles for growth include:
• Box braids, Two-strand twists, Cornrows, Wigs (with braided base)
Low manipulation styles help reduce breakage.
8. Keep Your Ends Protected
Your ends are the oldest and weakest part of your hair.
Tips:
• Tuck ends away
• Apply oils or butter
• Avoid constant pulling or styling
REMEMBER:
Your hair is always growing…
But breakage is what hides your length
