VAP Children's Desk
This is a platform for children related issues. Human Rights, Employment, National Values, Character building and Counseling, Children's Clinic, etc
Today is labor day and let us consider reviewing our rules governing our labor sector. Whilst child labor is an offense, we should as well consider child headed homes and families in circumstantial homes. We need to be realistic and considerate in the world we live. Copy, cut and paste does not help a developing nation to develop.
We know very few employees are happy on this day, but it is also the same with the employers.
Enjoy your day anyway.

Requesting for your support . This young boy on the wheel chair is aged 10 and he was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 30 January 2023.
The medical report obtained from University Teaching Hospital(Adult) on 23 February 2024 indicate that the boy is a paraplegic patient following spine injury as a result of motor vehicle accident on the 30 January 2023.
The patient sustained T10 T11 spine injury which left him paralyzed from the waist. He has bowel, bladder dysfunction and wasting of the legs. The patient has contractures around both knees which limit knee movement and negatively impacts sitting on the wheel chair.
The patient underwent spine surgery to stabilize the spine on 8 February, 2023. He recovered well from the surgery and was encouraged the start rehabilitation.
The recommendation are that the patient needs nutrition support, physiotherapy and possible surgery release of the contractures. This will improve the rehabilitation and sitting position while on the wheel chair.
The patient will continue with the follow up program with the spine unit.
The police report obtained from Chelstone Police Station (Traffic Department) on 30 January 2023 indicate that the motorist was on the right and the child was on the wrong.
This imply that this young boy (refered as a patient in the medical report) can not have insurance cover and worse still, he comes from a very vulnerable family which can not meet any of the recommendation from the doctors. The patient stays with a single mother who needs rehabilitation as well and the father just a mayor security guard. They both stay in Ventor near Madzi Valley in Lusaka, hence the need for your help.
