The Power of GOALS

When I was in grade 3 our teacher Mr Lutombi at Mujala asked us what we wanted to be when we grow up. That day I said I wanted to be a lawyer not knowing what the path would look like. Not even knowing if my parents could afford to send me to a good law school (not Unza lol) or if I would even get good grades to qualify to study law.

To be a LAWYER became the goal. The only thing I was working torwards. And eventually I was admitted to the Bar. In between, life happened:

- Relocated
- Survived Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB)
- Survived Pneumonia
- lived with Asthma
- my own lack of focus
- Relocated again
- all the useless breakups that disturb our peace for nothing lol
- Lost my father in April 2016 2 months before my final Ziale exams

I can give you a list of over 20 things that all could have been legitimate reasons not to keep working torwards this goal.

Life will happen, guaranteed!! I don’t know what your obstacles are, I don’t know what’s keeping you from achieving your goals. And the truth is no matter your goals always remain flexible in how you get there. The key is to ensure you have goals so that you know where to invest your time, energy and money. Goals give you hope, they are the light at the end of the tunnel. DONT GIVE UP. Keep going.

I am currently enjoying my role as Country Head of Compliance at Flutterwave. If you asked me then in 2008 what I would be doing 14years from now, I couldn’t possibly have imagined this. My goal was to be a lawyer!
