ON THE AIR: Tackling the Plastic Crisis
We recently sat down for an interview to discuss a massive challenge: plastic pollution.
Millions of tons of plastic waste choke our landfills and waterways every year. A hidden part of this crisis is conventional sanitary pads, which are made of up to 90% plastic and take centuries to break down.
That is why switching to reusable pads is such a game-changer. By choosing washable, eco-friendly alternatives like Vive Reusable Sanitary Pads we can divert thousands of tons of non-biodegradable waste from our environment while providing sustainable, dignified care.
At Wastemat, we are focused on driving a circular economy by turning waste into sustainable assets. By rethinking how we consume and upcycle materials, we can protect our environment and support our communities.
Let’s reduce plastic waste and build a cleaner, greener future together!
Thank you ZNBC for teaming up with us to share this important conversation!

Today is Global Menstrual Hygiene Day, and at Wastemat Zambia Limited, this day holds a profound meaning.
Did you know many girls in peri-urban and rural areas walk up to 5km to school while menstruating without adequate supplies? This is why our campaign, “Her Health, Her Walk, Her Journey,” exists. We are on a mission to put 100,000 First Ladies Hampers of Hope (packed with sustainable Vive reusable pads and essentials) into the hands of those who need them most.
We have already saved millions of disposable pads from landfills and empowered thousands of young women. But the journey doesn't stop here.
Menstruation should never cost a girl her education or her self-worth. Let’s break the stigma, protect our planet, and uplift our girls. 🩸

Dignity, health, and education should never be sidelined by a natural cycle. We are incredibly proud to see our Vive Reusable Sanitary Pads play a central role in the “Period Without Poverty Campaign”
The Push Girls Foundation made a life-changing impact at Lugwasho Primary School in Choma District. By donating 100 menstrual kits, they have ensured that 100 adolescent girls now have the tools to stay in school, participate in class with confidence, and manage their health with dignity.
