Hello friends.
I wish to thank all of you who have been visiting me, calling me to check on me, and praying for me during the period I have been sick. Some of you might have not been aware that I had been sick for close to 2 months now, that's why I was quite on this page. I'm glad to inform you that through your prayers, I'm now feeling better. I would like to thank all of you for your support and encouragement during my sickness. I would also like to thank the almighty God for placing His healing hand upon me. I'm now on the path to full recovery. I can only encourage you to continue supporting and encouraging others who may be in a similar situation as I had been.
Once again, I thank you very much, and may God richly bless you.

CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH BEING A GOSPEL MUSIC CELEBRITY
A few days ago I posted a brief writeup on the key factors one can follow in order to pe*****te the gospel music industry and become a celebrity. I wrote that post based on the question I was asked by a young upcoming gospel artist. In my post, I made a statement that being a gospel music celebrity has it's own challenges, and today I want to talk about those challenges that gospel music celebrities face. These are the same challenges you will face once you make it in the gospel music industry. I know, those who have made it to become celebrities will agree with me.
Some challenges associated with being a gospel music celebrity include:
1. Living up to high expectations: Gospel music celebrities are often held to high moral and ethical standards by their fans and the public. They are expected to be role models and exemplify the values and beliefs of the Christian faith.
2. Balancing fame with faith: Maintaining a strong spiritual life while navigating the pressures of fame and celebrity can be challenging. It can be difficult to stay grounded and focused on one's relationship with God amidst the distractions of the entertainment industry.
3. Dealing with criticism: Gospel music celebrities may face criticism and scrutiny from both the secular and Christian communities. They may be judged for their choices, beliefs, and behaviors, which can be emotionally taxing.
4. Managing personal and professional boundaries: Gospel music celebrities often have to navigate the fine line between sharing their personal testimony and maintaining boundaries for privacy and self-care. Balancing the demands of their career with their personal life can be daunting.
5. Handling the pressures of the industry: The music industry is competitive and demanding, and gospel music celebrities may face pressure to conform to certain standards or compromise their beliefs in order to achieve success. Managing these pressures while staying true to their faith can be challenging.
6. Maintaining authenticity: Gospel music celebrities may struggle with staying true to their artistic vision and message while also meeting the expectations of fans and the industry. It can be challenging to find a balance between commercial success and artistic integrity.
Overall, being a gospel music celebrity comes with its own set of unique challenges that require strong faith, resilience, and perseverance to navigate successfully.

COMMON MISTAKES CHOIRS MAKE DURING PERFORMANCES
Being in the gospel music industry for a long time, and being a musical trainer and choir director for different choirs has given me the knowledge and experience on how to deal with matters relating to music and choir improvement. And during this whole period, I've noticed that in almost all the choirs I've been to, there are common mistakes that exist, especially during performances. In this writeup, I point out the common mistakes that choirs make during performances. Once you know them, you will know how to work around them and improve your choir.
Common mistakes made by choirs during performances can include:
1. Intonation Issues: Choir members singing out of tune or not staying in pitch with each other.
2. Rhythm and Timing Problems: Choir members not staying together rhythmically or coming in at the wrong time.
3. Balance and Dynamics: Imbalances in sound between different sections of the choir, or overall dynamics that are too loud or too soft.
4. Diction and Pronunciation: Choir members not enunciating clearly or not pronouncing words in a uniform manner.
5. Lack of Engagement or Expression: Choir members not fully connecting with the music and conveying the appropriate emotion or expression.
6. Breath Control and Phrasing: Inconsistent breathing and lack of attention to phrasing, which can lead to disjointed or choppy singing.
7. Stage Presence and Presentation: Not engaging with the audience, lack of expression or movement, or awkward transitions between pieces.
To avoid these mistakes during performances, choirs can focus on thorough rehearsal and preparation, paying attention to all aspects of musicality and performance skills. This includes working on intonation, rhythm, dynamics, diction, and expression during rehearsals, as well as incorporating staging and movement if relevant. Choirs can also benefit from feedback from a conductor, vocal coach, or external evaluator to identify areas for improvement and fine-tune their performance. Practice performing in front of others, recording performances, and seeking constructive criticism can also help choirs refine their skills and deliver more polished and engaging performances.

HOW TO BECOME A GOSPEL MUSIC CELEBRITY IN ZAMBIA
Today, I received a phone call from an upcoming gospel musician, and he asked me a very important question. He said, "Ba Titus, I know that working with Ba Davies Mulaya as a gospel music celebrity has taught you a lot about how one can become a celebrity, especially here in Zambia. Would you kindly share with me a few insights that has made your friend, ba Davies, to be a celebrity?" At that point, I realized that there are other people who are in the same shoes as this young man, wondering how they can break through the Zambian gospel music industry, and later become celebrities. So, I decided to share a few points, in case someone out there is wondering how to make it in the Zambian gospel music industry.
By the way, it is not a sin to be a celebrity. Jesus Christ, In His time on earth, was a celebrity. It's a status everyone would be happy to be associated with. However, it has it's own challenges, but I don't want to talk about those challenges today.
So, one may ask, "Who is a celebrity?" A celebrity is a well-known person who has gained fame and popularity, usually as a result of their talent, work in the entertainment industry, or public persona. Celebrities can include actors, musicians, athletes, social media influencers, and other individuals who have a large following and are widely recognized by the public.
Becoming a gospel music celebrity in Zambia, like in any other country, requires talent, hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Here are some steps you can take to become a gospel music celebrity in Zambia:
1. Develop your musical talent: Start by developing your musical skills and talents. Take singing lessons, learn to play at least one musical instrument if possible, and practice regularly to improve your skills.
2. Write and record your own music: Write and record your own gospel songs. Make sure they have a powerful message and resonate or relate with your audience.
3. Perform live: Start performing at local church events, concerts, and other music events to gain exposure and experience.
4. Build a strong online presence: Create a website and social media profiles to showcase your music and connect with fans. Share your music videos, photos, and updates regularly.
5. Collaborate with other artists: Collaborate with other gospel music artists that are well known and have a huge fan base in order to expand your exposure and reach new audiences.
6. Network in the music industry: Attend music conferences, workshops, and networking events to connect with industry professionals and other artists.
7. Seek opportunities for publicity: Submit your music to radio stations, music blogs, and other media outlets for airplay and reviews.
8. Stay focused and persistent: Building a career in the music industry takes time and effort. Stay focused on your goals and don't get discouraged by setbacks.
By following these steps and staying committed to your music career, you can increase your chances of becoming a gospel music celebrity in Zambia.

HOW A CHOIR CAN MAINTAIN HIGH STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
During my musical journey, I have observed that one of the most difficult things to do is to consistently maintain high standards of performance, especially for choirs. There have been very few choirs, especially in Zambia, who have consistently maintained high standards over the years. Most of them come on the scene, perform well, just for a short period of time, then, you no longer hear about them.
But today, I want us to talk about some key factors that help the choir to consistently maintain high standards of performance. The following are the key factors:
1. Regular rehearsals: The choir should schedule regular rehearsals to practice and improve their performance. Consistent practice is essential for maintaining high standards.
2. Set clear goals: The choir should establish clear goals for their performances and work towards achieving them. This will help keep everyone motivated and focused on their performance.
3. Work with a skilled choir director: A skilled choir director can help the choir maintain high standards by providing guidance, feedback, and suggestions for improvement.
4. Seek feedback: The choir members should ask for feedback from each other, the choir director, and other professionals in the music industry. Constructive feedback can help the choir identify areas for improvement and work towards higher standards of performance.
5. Attend workshops and masterclasses: The choir members should participate in workshops and masterclasses to improve their skills and learn new techniques. This can help enhance their performance and maintain high standards.
6. Perform regularly: The choir should have regular performance opportunities to showcase their skills and receive feedback from the audience. Performing regularly will help the choir members gain experience and improve their performance standards.
7. Practice good vocal health: The choir members should practice good vocal health habits, such as staying hydrated, warming up before rehearsals, and resting their voices when needed. Good vocal health will help maintain the quality of their performance.
8. Stay engaged and motivated: The choir members should stay engaged and motivated during rehearsals and performances. They should be enthusiastic about their music and strive to improve their performance standards consistently.

COMMON TEMPTATIONS FOR GOSPEL MUSICIANS
In the bible, we read that after Jesus got baptized, the Spirit of God led Him in the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Notice that Jesus, the Messiah, had to face temptations. This was not the only time he faced temptations. Throughout His life while doing His ministry, he faced a lot of temptations. The difference was in the way He handled those temptations.
So, we can safely conclude that it is not a sin to face temptations. Actually, it's part of life to face temptations. The secret therein lies in how to handle and overcome the temptations we face.
So, like Jesus Christ, and like any other person, gospel musicians also face a lot of temptations. Sometimes, they may not even realize that they have fallen prey to certain temptations. It is for this reason that I have decided to do a writeup on some of the temptations gospel musicians face. This is not to promote the temptations, but to know them so that we avoid them and find a way to overcome them. The common temptations I have listed are according to my experiences I've encountered, while others I've seen, heard, and learned from others. Some common temptations for gospel musicians may include:
1. Ego and Pride: Gospel musicians may be tempted to become prideful or boastful about their musical abilities, accomplishments, or recognition within the industry.
2. Materialism: Gospel musicians may be tempted by the allure of fame, wealth, and material possessions that can come with being successful in the music industry.
3. Burnout: Gospel musicians may be tempted to overextend themselves with performances, recording sessions, and other musical commitments, leading to burnout and fatigue.
4. Compromising Beliefs: Gospel musicians may face temptations to compromise their values, beliefs, or faith for the sake of commercial success, acceptance, or popularity.
5. Substance Abuse: Gospel musicians may be tempted to turn to drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism for the pressures and challenges of the music industry.
6. Sexual Immorality: Gospel musicians may be tempted by the allure of sexual encounters or relationships that go against their faith or personal values.
7. Comparisons and Jealousy: Gospel musicians may be tempted to compare themselves to others in the industry, leading to jealousy, insecurity, or feelings of inadequacy.
It is important for gospel musicians to stay grounded in their faith, accountable to trusted mentors or advisors, and mindful of the potential pitfalls that can come with success in the music industry. They should prioritize their spiritual and mental well-being, surround themselves with positive influences, and seek support and guidance when facing temptations.

A FRIENDLY ADVICE TO GOSPEL MUSICIANS WHO SING JUDGEMENTAL SONGS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE'S MISTAKES
**********************************************
DISCLAIMER: Views expressed in this writeup are purely my personal views and opinions.
**********************************************
I have observed that there is a trend that is slowly creeping in the gospel music industry, especially amongst those who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ. This trend is all about singing judgemental songs about other people's mistakes. As musicians, we must always remember the teachings of Jesus Christ, who emphasized forgiveness and compassion towards others. It is important to remember that everyone makes mistakes and that we are all imperfect beings. In stead of being quick to judge others in your songs, try to extend grace and understanding, and offer support and guidance to help them grow and improve. Remember that we are all on a journey of faith and growth, and it is important to show love and understanding towards others, just as we would want others to do for us.
Now, there are dangers in singing judgemental songs about other people's mistakes, and these include the following:
1. Hypocrisy: Singing judgemental songs about other people's mistakes can come across as hypocritical, as gospel musicians are supposed to promote forgiveness and understanding rather than judgement and condemnation.
2. Un-Christian Behavior: A key tenet of Christianity is to love and forgive others, not to publicly shame and ridicule them. Singing judgemental songs could go against the teachings of the Christian faith.
3. Damage To Reputation: Publicly criticizing others through music can damage the reputation of the gospel musician and their ministry. It could create a perception of self-righteousness and judgementalism, turning people away from the message of the music.
4. Division In The Community: Judgemental songs can create divisions in the Christian community, as they may breed resentment and conflict among believers. This goes against the principles of unity and love that are central to the Christian faith.
5. Missed Opportunities For Growth: Instead of focusing on the mistakes of others, gospel musicians could use their platform to inspire, encourage, and uplift listeners. By singing judgemental songs, they miss the opportunity to promote healing, reconciliation, and personal growth.

KEY FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN DETERMINING IF A CHOIR IS READY FOR RECORDING
Being a gospel songwriter and a singer has taught me a lot of lessons. But again, being a co-producer has also taught me more lessons. I have seen singers, especially choirs, that go for recording, yet they are not ready at all, and they give a producer a lot of work. So, today, I want to address the issue of recording, as a co-producer, and I want to answer the questions, How do you determine if a choir is ready for recording? What are the key factors to consider?
There are several key factors to consider when determining if a choir is ready for recording:
1. Vocal Technique: The choir members should have a solid grasp of vocal technique, including proper breathing, pitch control, tone production, and diction. Each singer should be able to blend their voice with others in the choir to create a cohesive sound.
2. Musicality: The choir should have a strong sense of musicality, including an understanding of rhythm, tempo, dynamics, and phrasing. They should be able to follow the conductor's cues and work together to create a unified performance.
3. Rehearsal Preparation: The choir should have spent ample time rehearsing the music they will be recording. They should be comfortable with the material and confident in their ability to perform it well.
4. Performance Confidence: The choir members should feel confident and comfortable performing in front of the microphone. They should be able to project their voices clearly and confidently without being overly nervous or self-conscious.
5. Technical Readiness: The choir should have access to the necessary recording equipment and technology, including microphones, recording software, and a suitable recording space. They should also have a clear understanding of how to use the equipment effectively.
Once these factors are in place, it is likely that the choir is ready for recording. However, it is always a good idea to listen to a few test recordings to ensure that the sound quality and performance meet your expectations before proceeding with the final recording.

HOW TO REVAMP THE CHOIR WHOSE STANDARDS HAVE GONE BELOW PAR.
We have seen on many occasions, where a choir performs very well, and make a lot of positive impact, and where everyone appreciates the choir. But after a certain period, the choir no longer performs well, and it appears as if it goes into oblivion. Most people start wondering what might have gone wrong.
Today, that's what I want to talk about.
I want to answer the question, How do you revamp the choir whose standards have gone below par? The following are the steps to take:
1. Conduct a Review: Begin by conducting a thorough review of the choir's current performance and standards. This can include evaluating vocal quality, musicality, attendance, engagement, and overall cohesion within the group.
2. Set Clear Expectations: Clearly define the standards and expectations for the choir moving forward. Communicate these expectations to all choir members and ensure they understand the importance of maintaining high standards.
3. Implement Regular Rehearsals and Voice Training: Establish a consistent rehearsal schedule and focus on vocal training to improve the choir's overall performance. Work on vocal techniques, blend, pitch accuracy, and other skills necessary for producing high-quality music.
4. Encourage Participation and Engagement: Foster a culture of active participation and engagement within the choir. Encourage the choir members to be present, prepared, and actively involved in rehearsals and performances.
5. Engage in Team-building Activities: Organize team-building activities to strengthen relationships and build camaraderie within the choir. This can help improve communicatin, collaborations, and overall unity within the group.
6. Seek Feedback and Evaluation: Regularly seek feedback from choir members and audience members to assess and identify areas for improvement. Use this feedback to make adjustments and refine choir's performance.
7. Consider Bringing In Outside Help: If necessary, consider bringing in a vocal trainer, conductor, or music director to provide guidance and support in revamping the choir's standards. They can offer new perspectives and expertise to help elevate the choir's performance.
8. Celebrate Achievements: Recognize and celebrate the choir's achievements and improvements along the way. Positive reinforcement can motivate choir members and inspire them to continue striving for excellence.

HOW A CHOIR CAN ACHIEVE UNITY OF PURPOSE
If you have sang in so many choirs, you will agree with me that there are certain trends that are similar in almost all the choirs. The vision of the group is mostly driven by the choir director, and probably a few individuals. The majority of the members just follow through without a clear understanding of what they want to achieve at the end of the day. Because of that, most choirs are disjointed, disorganized, and seem to move without vision, without unity of purpose. In this writeup, I want us to address the question, How can a choir achieve unity of purpose?
A choir can achieve unity of purpose by:
1. Establishing a Shared Vision: The choir should have a common goal and vision that everyone is working towards. This could include goals related to musical excellence, ministry outreach, financial growth, or personal growth.
2. Promoting Open Communication: Encouraging open and honest communication within the choir helps to build trust and understanding among members. Regular meetings and discussions can also help ensure that everyone is on the same page.
3. Fostering Positive and Supportive Environment: Creating a positive and supportive choir culture where members feel respected, valued, and encouraged can help strengthen unity and teamwork.
4. Developing Teamwork Skills: Implementing team-building activities and exercises can help members work together cohesively and build strong relationships with one another.
5. Setting Clear Expectations and Responsibilities: Clearly defining roles, expectations, and responsibilities within the choir can help prevent misunderstandings and ensure that everyone is contributing to the overall purpose of the group.
6. Encouraging Personal Growth and Development: Providing opportunities for individual growth, such as vocal training, leadership development, and performance opportunities, can help members feel invested in the choir's purpose and mission.
7. Emphasizing Prayer and Spiritual Connection: Incorporating prayer, devotional, and spiritual practices within choir activities can help deepen members' connection to each other and their shared purpose.
By implementing these strategies, a choir can work towards achieving unity of purpose, fostering strong teamwork, and ultimately creating a cohesive and harmonious music ensemble.
