B U T T E R S : L O T I O N S : C R E A M S

Many shoppers looking for quality skin care products don’t know the difference between a body butter, a skin lotion and a skin cream. We often get the question : what is the difference between the three yet they all soften and moisturize the skin? Don’t worry we got you😉

Body butter : this is the thickest of the three, it has the strongest scent and lasts longer than both lotions and creams. It is made using a combination of butters e.g Shea, mango,cocoa,kokum and oils and do not typically contain water. Best to apply on pre- damp skin.

Creams: They are thinner than butters and they contain water based ingredients e.g aloevera.

Lotions: These are similar to creams and are lightest/thinnest of the three. They contain alot of water. Meaning it will not necessarily moisturize as much as a butter or cream might.

BOTTOM LINE: As a rule of thumb, lotions work well on oily skin and creams/butters on drier skin. If your skin is extremely dry, apply products straight after a shower. Rem that oils and butters will usually lubricate and soften the skin, preventing further loss of moisture by creating a barrier on top of your skin.
