Sunday story time :
Soooo when we started the hair business in 2007 we had the most amazing hair supplier , her name was Giselle a Brazilian National staying in China, the hair quality was amazing it was the best 👌it also didn’t come cheap but it was raw hair, virgin hair and rent hair she sold…..this is where I learnt that “there is nothing called Brazilian hair” yeah I said it come shoot me 🤣🤣this is just a marketing term used by the Chinese just to lure customers, anyway fast forward a few years later when I was trying to be ambitious and try out other suppliers because they were “cheaper” and I wanted to offer my clients affordable “real hair” i got a wake up call when I purchased hair direct from “Brazil” a whole shipment of fake mixed low quality hair,the moment I put water on it it tangled and was so shiny just like synthetic I had to refund everyone who bought that hair, then I tried another supplier straight from India 🤣🤣🤣🤣guys I was told it was raw temple hair but I received jet black hair and when washed all the dye came out “raw hair means it hasn’t been tempered with ,no dye no chemical nothing!!!! But this one clearly had been dyed, I lost thousands and thousands of dollars in the process of creating a trusted hair brand, but along the way we came across suppliers of the best hair you can find. We then introduced our wholesale platform to help those who want to get into the hair business, this way they save up on money and avoid being scammed like we did.

Moral of the story: know your market, create good working relationships with your suppliers and customers
Test the hair before putting it on the market it will save you lots of $

Sunday story time continued…..

So as I had mentioned on my last Sunday story time (), when I started RHL I had only 10 bundles which sold in no time, I ordered more this time and sold to anyone I met in the streets of Harare. I started educating my self more and more on human hair the different types and all these terms that where being thrown around, one thing I made a conscious decision of was to treat my business like a BIG successful business even before it was, I was selling from the boot of my car but I already had packaging and business cards because I believed people buy with their eyes first 😃my brand appealed to the right clients who understood quality more than quality… unplanned,my target market was created as we sold to certain group of women.
Years went by and RHL made good money and Guess what??? One day I woke up and didn’t have anything to show for it no money, no business scaled zero!!!!! Pregnant unemployed and nothing to fall back on 😭😭😭 why?? I had no financial literacy at all, i did not know how to run a business I was a hustler “ngiphusha I passion” all I had was a dream and passion, My heart was sore, I had let my self down and those that believed in me 😌 I made a decision not to give up on my dreams and my passion ☺️ in my down and out moment I equipped myself with tools that will help my dream come to life again and this time no room to give up as it was not an option.

Moral of the story : PASSION IS NOT ENOUGH TO RUN A BUSINESS, self improvement will never get out of fashion and education is underrated. Do yourself a favor read as much as you can about your industry, have a structured business and don’t give up on your dream….your vision MUST carry you even in times of doubt
