Welcome to The Double Storey on Maasdorp. As indicated in my previous post, there have been some changes at The Double Storey and I will be highlighting each shop. This post gives pictures of our newest shop - specialising in baby fare. I think their products are excellent and the range and availability are too. So I will let the pictures speak for the shop!
Enjoy and see you at The Double Storey!

It's voting time and time to do a focussed page for
The Double Storey. In my previous page I gave an overview of the shops at The Double Storey and promised to follow up with specific shops. Here is the first one.
Cordialis's Kitchen & Gifts is on the ground floor of The Double Storey, immediately on the left on entering the house. The shop specialises in house and particularly kitchen products.
The pictures give a view of Kitchen & Gift's products.
Visit The Double Storey any day of the qweek, whether it is on UpMarket day (every Wednesday and Saturday morning) or at other times. And once you have browsed and shopped, drop in at The Bottom Drawe for a tea/coffee/cake break or a lunch.
Welcome to the Double Storey!

The Double Storey has (almost) doubled!
I have been very quiet about The Double Storey for some time - so my apologies. BUT, that does not mean that nothing has been happening there.
For those of you who regularly - or irregularly - visit UpMarket (open every Wednesday and Saturday morning) you will have noticed the new cabin with four new shops. There have also been changes in tenants. So the 'complexion' of The Double Storey has changed.
Previously I tried to focus on one shop every month but this took too long to get to each shop. So now I am going to highlight one shop every two weeks.
But for this missive I simply want to give shoppers an overview of all the shops open at The Double Storey.
Regular visitors/shoppers will immediately recognise that some things have not changed: The Bottom Drawer (which, in my opinion is one of two best tea/coffee restaurants in town if not in the country) is still next door and the gate between our properties is still open giving easy access to those who want to shop/browse at The Double Storey and then go for tea/coffee/meal - or visa versa. The synergy between the two businesses remains strong. The Cellar - purveyors of fine wines and spirits - is still open having concentrated their business at The Double Storey, and offers related products such as coffee (Nespresso) and ci**rs. And Madd about Flowers has continued to supply the most amazing flowers from The Double Storey as well as building a one-stop shop for your functions; worth talking to Abby!
Here is a list of the shops now open at The Double Storey:
Ground floor:
The Apartment (Poppy)
Kitchen and Home (Cordialis)
Madd about Flowers (Abby)
The Cellar (Vanessa)
The Posh Paper Place (Ruth)
and Jewellery (Shiela)
Pai's Cosmetics (unit 1)
Rachel's Silver Box Creations (unit 2)
Mati's Clothing (unit 3)
boheika Clothing (unit 4)
CMS Hairstylists (Christine, Maggie, Sandy) (at the back)
Tracy's Amai'zing Kombucha (at the back)
UpStairs:
The Nail Bar (Leonie)
Blandina's wedding and special occasions dresses and clothes
Travel Connect travel agency (new on the block)
and another new shop opening upstairs later this month.
I also hope to bring you a health shop unit soon.
See you at The Double Storey!

For those who like landmarks, these are the signs on The Double Storey boundary to look out for. I thought it would be useful to have a frontage on the page - so here it is.
We have a new tenant coming in this month; although the porch at the driveway side of the house has had a sign up 'Coming soon', there has been a change and Moyra's Posh Paper and Shiela's Jewellery will be in later this month! Then the gift shop will come into a new structure with the hairdressers. Something more to look forward to this month.
See you at The Double Storey!

The Double Storey on Maasdorp Avenue (next to Bottom Drawer Tea Shoppe) is about to be approached through a glorious avenue of jacaranda trees! Also home to UpMarket - your favourite Wednesday and Saturday morning market - The Double Storey houses numerous other businesses such as CMS Hairdressers (look out for their market day specials), Tracy's Amaizing fermented products (also found at UpMarket), Abby's incredible Madd about Flowers (see The Double Storey previous feature and also found at UpMarket), Poppy's Apartment, Cordialis's Kitchen Gifts, Body & Soul, The Cellar - Purveyor of the Finest Wines and products, Leona's Mani-Pedi and massage studio; 'The Shop' (upstairs for young women's clothing and accessories (featured today -see pictures).
Every two weeks I will feature one of the shops to give you an insight on what to expect You can of course see the shops when you visit UpMarket too. And look out for our new shops, coming soon.
'The Shop' is upstairs at The Double Storey; just follow the models up the stairs and straight in to the shop; can't miss it. The models immediately give you an insight into the clothes available but don't miss out on the accessories; see the pictures for a preview.

After some delay since I created this page, I am at last back to update it - and you - on what is happening at The Double Storey. As you are all aware, UpMarket operates from The Double Storey Wednesdays and Saturdays in the morning but the other businesses at The Double Storey are open more or less shop hours. So next time you are at UpMarket or in the area or if you are at Bottom Drawer, why not drop in and see the shops at The Double Story.
For reference, you will find
(at the back)
CMS Hairdressers (CMS = Christine, Maggie, Sandy)
Amaai'zing (formerly Thrive) fermented health products by Tracy
(at the back of the house)
The Wine Cellar - puveyors of fine wines, etc with Les in attendance
(at the side of the house)
Madd on Flowers - Abby's flowers are sold through the week and at UpMarket. Mass on Flowers was featured first when this page was established
(in the house downstairs)
Toshiba agent in Zimbabwe can be found there;
Poppy's The Apartment is now up and running - see the pictures showcasing The Apartment, both setting up and now operating so come and see for yourself!
Claudialis operates Kitchen Gifts on the left as you enter with all you want for the kitchen; and (from personal experience) if there is something you want for the kitchen and it is not in the shop, Claudialis will do her best to get it for you; come and see.
(upstairs)
Body & Soul offices are 'manned' by Barbs through the week if you want to know about getting fit and staying in shape;
Then there is The Shop with (young) women's dresses and accessories - be tempted by what the mannequins on the stairs are displaying;
A new lawyers office is opening shortly specializing in property development - watch this space
And when you are exhausted by all the shopping, visit Leonie's mani- pedi- and massage salon; you wont regret it.
As indicated here are pictures featuring Poppy's The Apartment, both in setting up and now in operation.
You are welcome at The Double Storey!

Most people know UpMarket, fresh produce and craft market every Wednesday and Saturday morning at 12 Maasdorp Avenue, Belgravia. Not many people realise that 12 Maasdorp is the home of The Double Storey and that The Double Storey hosts a number of small businesses including UpMarket.
This page will show a lot more of the businesses operating at The Double Storey.
Let's start with Abby's flowers. Abby trades as Madd about Flowers and it is evident from her produce and her customers that she IS mad about flowers. See the pictures below and take time to visit and see what Madd about flowers has to offer.
Besides selling flowers from The Double Storey, Abby provides flowers for weddings and other social events (formal and casual) and is equipped to provide all the associated flower requirements (such as vases). Come and discuss your flower arrangement needs with her or her competent staff at The Double Storey.
Madd about Flowers is open Monday to Friday all day and Saturday morning.
